Speaking of copycats, this song was inspired by Debussy's "Beau Soir",
an 1878 setting of a poem by Paul Bourget that contains the following lines
counsel to be happy seems to emanate from all things...
...counsel to taste the charm of being in this world
whist one is young and the evening is beautiful
for we depart, as this water departs;
it to the sea - we to the grave

the lyrics on this recording are a little hard to make out
(I was going for an impressionistic sound)
but you can read them here.

also, the piano sound is pretty bad - it's a recording of an electric keyboard
that I intended to replace with a real piano or at least a great sounding piano sample,
but I decided to keep it because it was recorded on my birthday,
and I think that makes it special.
